Pressure Transient Analysis

A properly designed, executed and analyzed well test provides valuable information about reservoir properties and can be very useful to identify opportunities of improving well performance.

CalScan engineers use an advanced pressure transient analysis software and modern interpretation techniques to analyze the build-up data. Quality control is an integral part of our analysis process, pressure, temperature and rate data are thoroughly reviewed prior to conducting the analysis. After verifying the integrity of data, Well test analysis is performed using sophisticated reservoir models. The well completions can be vertical, deviated or horizontal and the reservoir may be homogeneous, composite, layered or dual porosity. The reservoir parameters that are evaluated are Average reservoir pressure (Pi), Permeability (k), Skin (S), Volume of drainage area, Ratio of vertical to radial permeability (Kv/Kh) for horizontal wells, Fracture half length (Xf) for stimulated wells, Reservoir description such as shape, continuity, boundary types (No-flow, constant pressure, leaky faults etc.) and distance to boundaries.

Our well test analysis report includes;

  • Conventional Analysis
  • Type Curve Analysis
  • Mathematical model/History match
  • Deliverability (AOF) Analysis
  • Transient Forecasts
  • Conclusions and Recommendations
